Kilwins Dahlonega owners, Jay & Margaret Krowicki, wanted to open a business on the Historic Square in Dahlonega for over two years, and it was their 16-year-old daughter Kassie who came up with the idea to open a Kilwins. As luck would have it, on Christmas Eve in 2019, Jay, Margaret, and their two daughters were walking the square to enjoy the Holiday lights when they stumbled upon a “For Sale” sign in the window of The Housley Building, a historic site built in 1928 that originally operated as the Housley General Mercantile. They hadn’t planned to buy a building, but they knew The Housley Building would be perfect for a Kilwins store, so they purchased it a few days later, and Kilwins Dahlonega has been open to the public since October 2020.
Kilwins Dahlonega offers a variety of products, including hand-crafted Chocolates, made-in-store, hand-paddled Fudge, “The Perfect” Caramel Apples, Caramel Corn & Brittle, Chocolate-dipped treats, and Kilwins Original Recipe Ice Cream. Like all Kilwins stores, Kilwins Dahlonega features an open kitchen where customers can view products being freshly made.
